It was an honour to be asked to perform with duo partner, legendary sax and clarinet virtuoso Willie van Zyl, for a special farewell dinner for former SA National Defence Force chief General Godfrey Ngwenya who has been appointed South Africa's ambassador in Angola. The dinnner was held at the historical Admiralty House in Simonstown.
Built in 1741 (with significant alterations since then), Admiralty house has been visited by many notable historical figures, including Rudyard Kipling, the Captain of the Confederate raider Alabama (the visit inspired the song "Daar Kom Die Alabama"), H.M. Stanley (in his quest to find Livingston), Captain Scott (on his way to the Antarctic) and the Royal Family.
