Mendelssohn's Wedding March remains one of our most requested wedding ceremony titles. I arranged this popular piece for solo guitar in the original key of C major - an audio preview is available by clicking onto this direct link or the play button below ...
The Popularity of the Wedding March
Mendelssohn - portrait by James Warren Childe. |
This stately piece of music became popular at wedding ceremonies after it was chosen by Victoria, The Princess Royal and daughter of Queen Victoria, for her marriage to Prince Frederick William of Prussia in 1858. Queen Victoria was a great admirer of Mendelssohn's music - he often played for the Royal Family while on his visits to Britain.
